RAF Chapple is a model of a WW2 RCAF Fighter Base around 1941/42 (based on RAF Warmwell), when the Royal Canadian Air Force was testing the first Hurricane planes to be fitted with 250lb bombs that were used against enemy shipping and airbases. They flew as 402 Squadron, which became 175 Squadron before they left England for Foreign Service. The Base has a remaining narrow gauge railway left after construction of new hangers and Nissan huts. This is being used to move personnel and equipment around the site and supplying fuel and armament to re-fuelling pits, hangers, workshops and storage areas. The layout is being detailed with many aircraft, and further fine detail each month. It will have two changeable areas so that the scene can be varied.
